Weril

Brazil

-

  • 1909 - they found the Weril firm
  • 1938 - Armando Weingrill founds Arwel metalworking firm
  • 1950 - production of Arweil musical instruments begins; around this time the Arwel horns bear either the Armando Weingrill logo or Weril (and apparently the Weril/Arwel horns were the same for some time; I have even seen instruments that look like Conns with replaced bells and copies of Holton and Olds designs)
  • 1980s - other brass manufacturers like Vivaldo take a hit and shut down; Weril continues manufacturing and begins exporting to DEG
  • 1991 - Arwel begins distributing foreign instruments
  • 1990s - Weril begins upgrading tooling; Walter Nirschl’s firm, Roland Meinl, Orsi, and Leblanc begin sourcing some production from Weril
  • 1999 - Arwel stops manufacturing horns and turns solely to distribution
  • 2000s - Weril is the only manufacturer of brass instruments in Brazil
