  • 1832 emigrated to US (or possibly 1838)


  • 1837 Baack & Paulus, musical inst dealer & importer


  • 1839-1844 Edward Baack, #55 Gold St., musical inst.


  • 1840 naturalized citizen


  • 1845-1849 now at #81 Fulton St, manuf & imp of mi


  • 1845 manuf. & importer of double and single action harps


  • 1846-1852 second location at #72-1/2 Chatham St.; also selling
    bronze powders & gold leaf


  • 1850-1875 now at #87 Fulton St.; flutes, flageolets, drums, music
    boxes, accordeons, hand organs, melodeons, violins,
    guitars, & brass of all kinds




  • 1856 Only listing for Philadelphia, musical inst., #78 N. 2nd St.


  • 1859 a fire partially destroys his shop; he used the 1st floor and
    basement of #87 Fulton St.


  • 1864 listed as a maker


  • 1872 listed at #147 Fulton St. (possible error) Retired in insolvency


  • 1875 listed as musical instruments, #87 Fulton St.


  • 1880 no occupation in Census, 8 children at home


  • 1884 wife Catharine dies at age 63


  • 1893 Edward dies on November 17th
