for Klemm Bros. in Philadelphia
1900 both Hafner and Eugene Addis Sutphin (1876-?) are
working as musical store salesmen
1911 Hafner & Sutphin music store opens at #149 N. 9th St.
1921 H&S moves to 4 story building at #925 Arch St.
1922 H&S selling Pan-American band instruments
1925 H&S selling Rexcraft bugles
1926 Hafner retires leaving the business to Sutphin
1929 Hafner dies on April 22nd at his home, #802 E. Chelten
Ave.; his son John Paul Hafner, Jr. works for the railroad
as a stenographer and never gets involved in music
1930 Sutphin runs the music store and his sister Marie is a
secretary there; he never marries or has children
1935 Sutphin still at #925 Arch St.
1940s the Morris Sklar Co. is located at #925 Arch St. and may
have been renting the building from Sutphin
1958 Eugene Sutphin sells the Arch St. property
