There were a number of Hammigs in the business, but most were string or woodwind makers.
Hammig name is associated with piccolos. But, in history there were several Hammigs making instruments, woodwinds, strings, and brass.
Friedrich August Hammig, born in 1869 and a zither maker by training, ran a mail-order business for musical instruments in Markneukirchen at Bienengarten 17 , next to his workshop.
