Leipzig brass traditions brought to Berlin in the early 1800’s. Julius Lemcke firm founded in 1847. Taken over by Ernst Leberecht Paulus in 1866. Followed by Arthur Sprinz firm 1878 - 1938.
The Sprinz family of Berlin consisted of Franz, Arthur and Fritz (1872).
In 1921 Arthur Sprinz built one of the new style Contrabass trombones based on a patent by Ernst Dehmel.
