Horn-u-Copia's Display of Makers

The Voight family lived around Markneukirchen. They were collectively active from the late 18th through mid 20th centry making and selling brass intruments. Some were makers, others suppliers, still others dealers.

Johann Georg 1759- 1843 (!) a long life. Other records indicate a maker of the same name was the earliest maker of Waldhorns in Neukirchen, possibly an uncle or other relative. His father made stringed instruments.

C. E. a horn from 1799 from Bad-Windsheim

Ernst Reinhold or Reinhard active from 1850 - sometime before 1929. Trade supplier of brass instrument components.

G. W. junior, late 19th century a 3 valve treble trombone reported

Horst mid 20th century. I own one of his french horns, for a later post.

Johann 1867-1908 trained in Markneukirchen, Klingenthal et al. Eventually settled in Regnitzlosau, west of Markneukirchen

Louis Adler (?) a tenor horn reported from 1914

M & G a horn reported from 1937

Moritz 1878 - sometime after 1908. Maker of brass instrument bells and parts. Succeeded by William, q.v.

Theodor dates unknown

W. Ed. junior established as a dealer, 1856 - ? as part of Gebrueder Voight (Voight brothers). A flugelhorn reported.

William successor to Moritz. A catalog from 1930 survives.

There are two Voigt horns in the Old Economy Village museum in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. They are marked "MACHTS X VOIGT IN NEIKIEN 1805, and are in the key of Eb.
