29 Queen Victoria St
Leeds
Kevin: Robert Snowdon Kitchen, proprietor of Kitchen & C0, Leeds.
Operated in Leeds from 1894-1955. According to preliminary research by John Townsend Joint Librarian, Thoresby Society, Leeds, Kitchen opened his business sometime during the mid 1890s at a stall, 163 Kirkgate Market. (Robinsons, Kellys Directories)
He moved regularly to progressivly more prestigious establishments and settled finally at 29 Queen Victoria St. This is central to what are known as the Empire buildings and are a part of a large covered mall (incorporating several lanes and streets)at the present. He expanded into adjacent shops as the need arose. At some point, he began manufacturing brass instruments.
