Pryorphone: The above instrument had two very ugly and large radial soldering points in the bell flare (one by the valves, and another out past the bell brace, which was itself obviously a bent straight brace). I wondered if this was not a marriage of a standard round mellophone, its bell, and a cornet bell flare.
