Echo KimC: his bb Echo cornet was made by John Grey, with the supplement "Made in French factory" Not much appears to be known about John Grey, except that his company primarily made mandolins, but also had some productions of other kind of instruments, these being mainly rather short lived productions. When I got it, the echo part was missing. Probably been removed because it does not allow the left hand to get a comfortable hold on the instrument. Funny enough, the A and Ab shanks were still to be found in the probably original case. With the background of wear marks in the case, "scents" on the instrument itself, and the knowledge of how long this echo parts tubing would need to be, the reconstruction of a new echo device was possible

gsmonks: Okay, I am not absolutely sure about this one, except that judging by the valve slides (which for some reason appear to be pulled out pretty far), this is probably one of those low Bb or C French instruments- I am guessing one of those old French-style Perinet-valve "French" horns. It is definitely not a tenor cor. Wrong key, wrong mouthpiece, wrong kind of plumbing. The lead-pipe appears to be missing, but I am certain it would accept a "French" horn mouthpiece, based on the narrow gauge of the tubing.
