Adam Peck: manufactured tubas in Germany before WWII and that they are known for their fine playing characteristics. Not to be confused with the brand name Sanders, Sandner tubas were interesting in that they had their tuning slides placed upwards toward the top bow of the tuba( this is a feature many modern manufacturers incorporate into their tubas.). These slides could be manipulated by the players left hand.
