Engraved: Imperial Whaley-Royce Limited Makers Toronto surrounded by an 8 Maple Leaf wreath and numbers "7", "38" and "Regt. This refers to the 38 Brant Battalion, No. 7 Company, Infantry, (Drumbo, Ontario). "The Dufferin Rifles.- By General Order of 28th September, 1866, the Commander-in-Chief of the Forces- the Right Honourable Charles Stanley, Viscount Monck- was pleased to authorize the formation of the 38th Brant Battalion of Infantry, with headquarters at Brantford, and composed of the following independent companies, and numbered as follows: # in Batt. Gazetted Company Designation Co. HQ. Captain 1 June 26th, 1856 Rifle Company Paris Andw H. Baird 2 Dec. 13th, 1861 No. 1 Rifle Company Brantford David Curtis 3 July 3rd, 1862 No. 2 Rifle Company Brantford John J. Inglis (Highland) 4 Jan. 30th, 1863 Infantry Company Mt. On January 5th, 1971, The Mount Pleasant Company was removed from the list of the Volunteer Militia, and the remaining companies of the regiment were renumbered as follows: No. 1 company, Paris; No. 2 Company, Brantford; No. 3 Company, Brantford; No. 4 Company, Brantford; No. 5 Company, Burford; No. 6 Company, Drumbo. No other 7th company was raised. Therefore the 1871 date would precede by 17 years the date of 1888 when Whaley-Royce was supposed to have opened for business. Thoughts on how this was possible?

2279 Cornet Whaley Royce Theadore Martin
OLDLOU: It would appear that my old CMS Imperial cornet is in every visible way a twin to the Whaley Royce Theodore Martin cornet pictured above. This would indicate to me that my little cornet is in fact at least a horn that was manufactured to the same pattern as the pictured Whaley Royce, immediately above. I was told by the person that I bought it from that her grandfather played it in a Canadian military band, and that the CMS was the initials,( logo ) of Canadian Musical Services. I can not state emphatically that this last is fact, just what the lady told me when I bought the little horn. I, personally do believe that she was correct. If someone in or from Canada can refute or confirm this I would be pleased tio hear from them.
