Earl Williams and John Wallace started making instruments in 1936 in LA. Williams had previously worked for Holton and Olds. The Wallace trombone was introduced in 1939. The number of horns made per year was approx 50.
After Williams died, the company was sold and moved to Donelson, TN. After moving to Donelson, the serial numbers started at 10,000.
This horn is a Donelson,Ten, not an original Williams.
The Williams 6 has been used as a model design for other makers, including: S.E. Shires Company Small bore horn (Seller says: "Having worked there at the time, I even remember seeing the horn at the shop."), Kanstul 1606 and Conn. 100H.
