A bit of the secret, I think, is to be found in the quick bore taper of the gooseneck and tuning slide and its comparatively wide bell stem. The tone is dark, slender and focused all the way from low F and three octaves up...it’s almost impossible to overblow; it doesn t crack up or become shrill even at very loud dynamics. Slotting and intonation are very close to perfection. "
