This is a Conn 23A Fluglehorn

Couesnon stencil imported 1970-72 cornet-shank mouthpiece Replaced by the 24A which was made by Willson

Rare Couesnon stencil imported after CCM bought Conn and discontinued the 20A in 1969; the 1971 catalog and pricelist show the 23A with the 1960s "Conn-Fluegel" Improved Precision cornet-shank mouthpiece, but it's not clear if the receiver/tuning pipe insert was modified. Everything else is very much Couesnon.
This was replaced by the 24A made by Willson starting somewhere around 1972-1974 [R serials were used that whole time, and later 24A examples don't have the R-prefix], and that appeared in the 1979 catalog.

By the 1983 pricelist, there are no flugelhorns. The Conn 25F eventually appeared in the late 1980s [in-house UMI stencil of the King 650 Diplomat], then the 85F CONNstellation [King 2020 Legend], then the Conn 1F Vintage One [Fred Powell design].

Thankfully the model numbers were still relatively consistent at the time [heck, that 25A/B Director kludge even existed from 1972-74]. Things got strange after 2000...
