Sorry, I made a mistake because this forum works still is very user-unfriendly and counterintuitive...
The name of this topic should be Rossmeisl.
Today I had a very interesting encounter. I replied to an ad for an old Joseph Glassl trumpet and the seller turned out to live in my village just a short walk away. But that wasn't the interesting part. He is the grandson of Franz Rossmeisl, the son of Wenzl Rossmeisl.
When I got to his home to pick up the Glassl trumpet, I was immediately drawn to a display cabinet with some very intetesting looking instruments. This man, Erwin Rossmeisl, talked about the family history of Wenzl and Franz, and about the Brass Instrument industry in Graslitz in general. By the eay, the history/bio you have on Rossmeisl is wrong, I will send Kenton a mail with the correct information when I have the time.
But the cherry on top was when he showed me an heirloom, the masterpiece his grandfather, Franz Rossmeisl, made as graduation piece from the "Musikfachschule" in Graslitz, probably made somewhere 1910 - 1914:
A beautiful rotary valve (Bohemian style) 4-valve cornet with optional echo-extension!
This was such a unique instrument, it was a very special feeling to see it with my own eyes and even hold it. I obviously asked if I could play it, and he said it was ok, but unfortunately the valves were frozen and the slides stuck, so I didn't even try for fear of damaging it.
I will include pictures in the e-mail to kenton so he can post them in the database and in the "New additions" section.
